The uniform and insignia of the Boy Scouts of America BSA gives a Scout visibility and creates a level of identity within both the unit and the community. The uniform is used to promote equality while showing individual achievement. While all uniforms are similar in basic design, they do vary in color and detail to identify the different membership divisions of Cub ScoutingScouts BSA and Venturing.
Venturing is one of the core programs of the Boy Scouts of Americaserving young men and women. Members must be at least 14 years old, or 13 years old and have completed eighth grade, through age The purpose of Venturing is to provide positive experiences to help youth mature and to prepare them to become responsible adults.
Boys 13 and older could be organized into Varsity Teams if they wanted to participate in sports or Venture Crews if they wanted to participate in a high adventure activity. Finally, in due to the confusion with Varsity Scout Teamsthe term 'Varsity' for this in-troop program would be dropped. At that point, Venture Crews could participate in either sports or high adventure activities.
The Venturing awards listed are not officially ranks, but serve a similar purpose. Those terms have all been replaced by the "Older Scout Patrol. Members of a Venturing Crew are "Venturers".

For the most part we are the normal venture patrol you have to be registered in the troop, 14, and star but we have too many kids that are ventures to actually fit us into one separate patrol.
The Crest was used by the BSA and is STILL used by some 30 or so local Councils to award to youth leaders for completing a set of individual training application requirements similar to a "ticket" which Wood Badge participants must complete in order to receive and wear the emblem. There are several versions of the Crest out there. Inthe leadership of the Blue Grass Scouting Alliance Club at Eastern Kentucky University asked and received permission to alter the Crest and to use it as its official organizational crest.
So Coast Guard and Air Force patches may indeed be worn anywhere on the vest. Likewise, if a Scout or Scouter is wearing a non-BSA vest or jacket, anything may be worn on it as well.
