We literally just went over thisyet here we are again talking about body-hair shaming. Since body hair is totally natural and societal norms are the only reason we think otherwise, it shouldn't be a big deal if someone decides not to shave. But people get so upset about body hair, particularly on women.
Ashley, mom of four, noticed that her eldest child was growing armpit hair at the tender age of 7. In the year before her daughter turned 8, body changes were already well underway. Body hair began sprouting and she definitely needed deodorant, and once she told her mom that her chest hurt and had discharge in her underwear, she knew she needed to get her checked out.
In the summer, cardigans are forgotten, jackets are left behind and armpits are out. Have you ever asked yourself why you shave your armpits? Or has it just become something you do, almost without thinking, like brushing your teeth?

A man I met once wrote that about me, in a WhatsApp group. He attached the message to a screenshot, of a picture that I had uploaded of myself, to my Instagram. Or worse still, perhaps I deleted the latest episode of Game of Thrones before he had a chance to watch it.
For show business veteran Audrey Lim, body hair was something that was simply never spoken about. She goes on to tell me a story of her junior college classmate who was mocked for her armpit hair during a swim PE class. That classmate was never seen again after the first 3 months.

The average human body boasts some 5 million hair folliclesand generations of beauty standards across many cultures have dictated that on femme-presenting bodies, some of this hair is acceptable and some of it is not.
